Deputy questioned following triple shooting at liquor store

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are trying to piece together what happened at a DeKalb County convenience store after three people ended up shot.

No one has been named a suspect just yet and police said they aren't looking for anyone. Still, they say, they can't entirely figure out what happened.

"There are a lot of moving parts to this case right now," Shiera Campbell, of the DeKalb County Police Department, told Channel 2's Matt Johnson.

Police say around midnight Sunday there was a shootout in front of the liquor store on Wesley Chapel Road that left three people hurt. Everyone is expected to survive.

“We are trying to determine who shot whom,” Campbell said.

Police say the shooting victims are a 19-year-old man, a 47-year-old bystander and the 46-year-old store owner.

DeKalb County police say no one has been charged because detectives do not have the whole story yet.

Also involved in the investigation is a Walton County sheriff's deputy. Police took him to DeKalb police headquarters for questioning.

“Right now, we do know that he was involved in the shooting, but we can't really say who he shot, we're making that determination right now,” Campbell told Johnson.

Initial reports to police indicated the incident was an attempted robbery. Now police aren't sure that this case is that simple.

“Right now, we're looking at this as a shooting and who would be the aggressor,” Campbell said.

Johnson contact the Walton County Sheriff's Office on Monday. Officials said they're awaiting the results of the investigation before commenting.
