Firefighters spend Thanksgiving monitoring north Georgia wildfires

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — Nearly 100 firefighters are spending their day mopping up and monitoring the north Georgia wildfires.

The state forestry commission is re-deploying the bulldozers and crews to different areas so that they can get to new fires more quickly. The firefighters that have been on duty for the past 14 days are being relieved by fresh crews coming in to help.
