Local police chief spends Christmas on patrol

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A local police chief spent part of Christmas on patrol with his wife.

For Lawrenceville police Chief Randy Johnson and wife, Wanda, who don't have kids of their own, this has become a Christmas tradition.

For the past 20 years they have been cruising the streets of Lawrenceville, so one of his officers can spend Christmas with family.

“These officers, they work so hard it's small gift that we can give back to them so they can spend Christmas with their kids,” Wanda Johnson said.

“We’re together, they're with their family having Christmas and that's what it's all about,” Randy Johnson said.

All the "thank yous" that the chief wants is smiles from his employees and their children.
