ATLANTA — Severe storms downed trees and power lines in parts of the metro as they rolled through north Georgia on Wednesday evening.

Gwinnett County confirmed it has several areas with trees and power lines down:
- Intersection of Newcastle Way SW/Centerville Highway SW in Snellville: Lines/power pole are down and across the roadway.
- 50 Block of Shadow Lake Drive SW in Lilburn: Firefighters responded to down power lines.
- 300 Block of North River Drive SW in Lilburn: Firefighters responded to a fallen tree that is leaning on wires.
- 4200 Block of Rosebud Road SW in Loganville: Firefighters found a live wire down in a yard.
Gwinnett fire also said they are investigating a fire that may have started from a lightning strike along Sawgrass Trail in Lilburn.

After Wednesday's storms moved out, things remained quiet throughout the rest of the evening.
But Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz said more storms are in store for Thursday.
"Early tomorrow morning, we pick up some isolated showers for your morning commute," Nitz said.

Around noon, showers will begin to develop across the north Georgia mountains and then become more widespread as they move south into the metro between 2 and 4 p.m.
Nitz said those storms will linger into the evening with isolated storms popping up.
Temperatures will remain in the low 90s throughout the weekend, with rain chances increasing a bit Saturday. More scattered storms are expected for the beginning of next week.
