3 injured in crash after driver runs red light, police say

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — City of South Fulton police say three people were injured in a crash early Wednesday morning after a driver ran a red light.

The accident happened at the intersection of Bethsaida Road and Old National Highway around 2:30 a.m. Police say the driver could face charges.

Channel 2's Lauren Pozen spoke with Cedric Topps, a witness who said the impact was so great one car flipped on its side.

"It is very horrific if you saw the scene, it was very horrific, very horrific. It had to be some very high speeds," Topps said. "The car was going fast. He had to have been going over 100 miles per hour."

City of South Fulton police said a driver of a Dodge Magnum ran a red light, crashing into a Ford F150.

“There was another vehicle sitting over here this one here. It was so crushed in. It was unreal," Topps said.

Both drivers and a passenger were hospitalized. Their conditions are unknown.

Police are investigating what led up to the crash.
