Scattered showers will linger through Sunday afternoon

Grab your rain gear if you plan to leave the house today.

Rain is falling in parts of metro Atlanta, and could continue throughout the afternoon.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni  Deon said early Sunday that storms had weakened across north Georgia overnight.

Scattered light showers will continue mainly north of Atlanta through early Sunday afternoon.

Highs will reach the upper 60s to low 70s.

“A cold front across our southern counties will trigger an isolated storm late this afternoon and evening, Deon said. “It could produce brief heavy rain and gusty wind.”

Severe storms are not expected in north Georgia.

There was fog across the area Sunday morning.

There will be mostly cloudy conditions Sunday.

Lows will cool into the 40s and lower 50s.

“Monday starts our dry break as high pressure builds in. We’ll remain warm and dry through Wednesday,” Deon said.

The next chance for rain arrives Thursday. There is a chance for storms Thursday and Friday.
